Policy Change and Acceptance of HIT

In medical records and document management systems, technology provided a positive outcome.

A study by Ayaz & Yanartaş (2020), where they used the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), found a positive behavioral effect on the users.

The positive behavioral outcome from the study was because of expected results or consequences or what is also called the Expectancy Theory. Expectancy theory, when properly followed, can help understand how individuals are motivated to choose among various behavioral alternatives. The results of the study affected performance; effort and social influence in their document management system.

In the study's conclusion, UTAUT and EDMS embodied safe and reliable document management with an archival system. It was suitable for institutions’ needs, which gained popularity and rapidly grows in acceptance. Integrating these systems into institutions, it encouraged users to adapt to the new technological order.

Similarly, technology adaptation must be a priority for healthcare leaders. There is always room for improvement and policy changes toward that end is a positive manifestation that almost always benefiting patients.

Today, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) are great tools used by different levels of the healthcare organization. From patient care to revenue management EMRs and information technology has provided beneficial outcomes and technology continues to push forward, creating better tools towards even better patient experience.
